Support in Taff Ely

Taff Ely Food Bank - now have a new app, where you can keep up to date on all news. Download the app from the Apple store or android equivalent, make sure to confirm you want notifications, then look for Taff Ely foodbank on the list, tick it and submit, then you’re in. Items most needed for donations at the moment are: tinned fruit, biscuits, tinned tomatoes, rice pudding, UHT milk, UHT juice and squash. Foodbank still open 9am-1pm, Monday-Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, Pontyclun. For referrals/vouchers for anyone in crisis, please contact a member of the wellbeing team:

Pontypridd Food Bank – Emergency support to those in crisis. Open at St Luke’s Church, Rhydyfelin, Monday and Friday 2pm – 4pm, Wednesday 10am – 12pm. Offering deliveries of emergency food parcels to people self-isolating. Please contact your housing officer, Citizens Advice or a member of your local wellbeing team if you need a voucher. Llanharan Drop-in Centre – Providing childcare (6 weeks to 12 years) for key working families only. MUST be registered through local emergency childcare scheme. Contact 01443 229723 or

Salem Chapel, Tonteg – Local volunteers supporting those self-isolating or vulnerable with picking up shopping, dog walks, calling for a chat, delivering foodbank packages for those in crisis, posting mail and any other essential support. Contact Emma 07581 888006 or Rev Rosa 07807 893373

Pontypridd town Covid19 community support group - Supporting people in the Pontypridd town ward, providing a befriending service, picking up shopping/medication. Also recruiting volunteers. Contact: Heledd Fychan (cllr) on 01443403375 /

Taffs Well Village Hall Volunteer Supportsupport for anyone vulnerable of self-isolating in the Taffs Well area. Volunteers can support with a basic food pack delivered to your property, prescription delivery, urgent supplies or just a friendly phone call. Llanharan Community Resilience Volunteers – Support for those needing help with shopping or small errands due to self-isolating. If you are willing and able to volunteer to carry out tasks for vulnerable people in this community, please also contact on the same details.

Hawthorn Covid-19 Community Support Group – anyone in need of essential practical help or a friendly phone call they will do their best to help with local volunteers. If you need support please call 01443 540143 (from 9am-6pm, Monday to Friday, answerphone at other times).

Rhydyfelin and Treforest Covid-19 Community Support Group - anyone in need of essential practical help or a friendly phone call they will do their best to help with local volunteers. This support network is being looked after by Councillor Maureen Webber on 07885430690, Councillor Carl Thomas on 07841721832 and Councillor Steve Powderhill on 07795466252.
