This group brings together partners from our PSB organisations to explore how we can improve our existing workforce and meet the challenges of the future, as well as working with our future generations to understand their expectations and raise their aspirations.
Successes so far include:
Volunteer fayres held in Treorchy Comprehensive School and Merthyr Tydfil College
Developing an Employability Pledge, with all our partners committing to a set of standards and goals
Holding a ‘Have a Go’ day with year 8 Pen-Y-Dre pupils in Merthyr College, letting them try their hands at cutting edge technology and experience the College’s fantastic facilities, as well as attend sessions on entrepreneurship and manufacturing processes.
We will be building on these successes in year 2, looking to hold a leadership and management conference, launch and tour our Employability Pledge, and work together to identify the first areas of priority work.
We will also be collaborating with colleagues in the third sector to explore opportunities for employer sponsored volunteering, and involving pupils from across Cwm Taf in our work – building a relationship and shared understanding around working in the public sector.
